How To Update HTC Evo 4G with Cyanogen MOD 7.1 Custom ROM Firmware

Procedure to S Off and Root HTC Evo 4G:

  • First up you will have to create the backup of the data which just in case you missed then you will have to do the same so that if the data is lost then you can easily restore the same. With the help of simple instructions below you can easily backup and restore the content.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
ContactsSync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Next up you will have to enable the USB Debugging in your phone which you can do from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. Now, disable the fast boot from the path of “Settings > Power > Fast boot”.   • After this you will have to visit the website of the HTC Beta Key Generator where in you will have to click on the option of “Download for Windows” after which you will get a prompt to download the file after filling in the details like operating system, your device name, HBOOT Version and also the serial number of the phone as shown in the below screen capture.

  • Upon entering all the details correctly, you will be getting the Beta key and now connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of your phone’s purchase. Open the Revolutionary beta application which you have downloaded from the above link after which the S Off will be gained and also the phone will gain the root access along with the custom recovery image installation successfully in your phone.
