- After your phone entered into the downloading mode, connect it to the PC (or Laptop) using the USB cable. Now, you can see the ID:COM block will turn into yellow, which indicates that all the necessary drivers have been installed successfully. Ensure that all the antivirus softwares and firewalls are in non-activation stage. Make sure that, KIES should in OFF stage in the process of updation.
- Now, click the ‘PDA’ option in the Odin tool and select that tar file as shown below.

- After selecting the tar file as shown above, click on the ‘Start’ button to initiate the updating process. Now, just wait for few minutes, as this process will take some time to complete the updation process. If any interruption has occurred in the process then don’t panic, just start the process all over again from the beginning.
- After completing the updating process, your phone will restarts automatically and you should understand that the process of firmware updation has completed successfully. So, now turn OFF your mobile and ON it back again to enter into the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, press volume UP key and OK button along with the Power button simultaneously. - Once your phone is in recovery mode, just choose the options like wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache partition. In the process of firmware update, some of the cache files will generates in order to damage the applications of your phone. So, to avoid any such damage to your phone we need to clean up all the cache files from the phone and for that just choose the options as given above. After clearing all the cache files form the phone, reboot it now using the option ‘reboot system now’, and enter the language preferences and the Google account preferences again so that your phone will be back into the normal mode.
