Pre Upgrade Instructions:
- So, before one proceeds to apply this update on their phone, you will have to ensure that you have created a backup of all the data which is stored in your phone which includes the SMS and contacts manually. Also, additionally the things like Applications, Songs, Videos etc also will have to be backed up so that just in case if these gets deleted then you can restore the same back to your phone.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.
- Ensure that the battery charge is minimum of 75%. As the process of updating this firmware requires an extra battery backup, so ensure that you have maximum possible battery backup.
- The PC you use to update should at least have the Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 operating system and as of now due to some limitations the Odin Flash does not support Mac / Apple based systems. In addition, make sure that the USB ports are USB 2.0 or at least can you get the error from the USB port that can be overcome by using different PC with respective hardware.
- Never proceed to update phone if you are unable to enter into the download mode. If you still proceed without entering into the download mode then there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone for which we should not be held responsible for.
- Also, additionally ensure that you have the ADMIN privileges along with the full access of USB Read / Write access so that all the data can be read / written from / to the phone. Before proceeding close the softwares like KIES / Antivirus Suites / Firewall tools completely so as to avoid from firmware update failure message.
Instructions to ones on Custom ROMs:
If you have already installed any of the custom ROM version on your Android then you will have to note that you first up need to reset the phone so that all the cache of that firmware gets cleared off so that the new firmware will not be having issues. Also, most importantly if you have installed the Voodoo components or any other such tools then you need to disable them.
So, let’s proceed with the procedure which is mentioned in the next page on how you can exactly update the phone with this firmware. Also, if you apply this update, the rooting access will be revoked, to get the rooting access again you will have to apply the update again.
