Procedure to update Galaxy Infuse I997 with the latest Gingerbread 2.3.5:
- First up so before you proceed for the procedure you will have to download the Gingerbread 2.3.5 Zip file in your computer / laptop and after that you need to extract the same to the desktop. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter the password. The password is “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas, once you enter the password, the files will be extracted.
- So, once you are done with the unzipping of the files just ensure that all the files are as per the below image, just in case if any of the file(s) are missing then you will have to download the zip file again as the files are not properly downloaded / unzipped.
- Now, after this you need to get into the download mode so that we can then proceed to apply this update on your phone. The download mode in the Samsung Infuse can be entered by taking the battery out, plugging it in usb, holding both volume buttons, and putting the battery back in. Please note that just in case if the phone boots up in the normal mode then you need to again follow the procedure again to enter the download mode.
- As soon as you enter into the download mode, you will now have to get into the download mode, with the help of the USB cable you will have to connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase.
- After connecting the phone to the computer, you will see that the ID : COM block will be turning yellow which means that all the required drivers have been successfully installed in the computer and you are now all set to proceed for the update. Please note that to turn that ID : COM block, it may take sometimes to turn as it takes 4 – 5 minutes to install all the required drivers depending upon the computer / Laptop.

- Now, as soon as you connect the phone to the computer or laptop, you will now have to click on the PDA tab and then you need to choose “I997UCKI4-Homebinary.tar.md5” from the extracted files which you did in the first step. Once you select the file, ensure that you have selected the correct file as selecting improper file may brick your phone completely after which you won’t be able to use the device.
- So, after this you will have to proceed by clicking on the “Start”. As soon as you click on the Start the firmware update process will be started and you will see that the progress will be shown in the Odin screen as mentioned below.
- After a period of 5 – 10 minutes the device will be updated and the same will be rebooting. Please note that at this point of time it’s highly recommended to not to interrupt the process of firmware update, if you do so then there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone. Just in case if the progress bar refuses to proceed then you need to pull off the battery and USB cable and then you need to re follow the instructions from the Step 3 above.
- S, as soon as the firmware is applied successfully, the phone will be rebooting on its own. Please note that it sometime may take 4 – 5 minutes to restart the device and you should not interrupt this process by frequent restarting of the device. Now, upon successful completion of the firmware update, you will now have to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode so that all the cache files are deleted from the phone. To enter into the recovery mode, first you will have to turn Off the phone. Now, press the Volume Up / Down button and then Power On the device, please note that you need to press the Volume keys for around 5-10 seconds.
After entering the recovery mode, you will have to choose the options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Please note that you will have to ensure that you don’t select any other options or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone. Please note that its utmost important to follow this step or else you will have to face force close errors. Please note that this recovery step is very important to perform so as to ensure that the device doesn’t undergo the force close errors.
So, once you are done with the clearing of all the cache from your phone you can then proceed to use the phone.
