How To Update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Exynos Extreme Custom ROM Firmware

Pre Requisite instructions:

  • In the process of applying this update you will be losing the data which is there in your phone. So, you need to backup all of this data or else you will lose the data. We have bought along the simple tips and the methods with which you will be able to backup and restore the data from / to the phone after the firmware is updated successfully.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Ensure that the battery life is at least 90% so that then you will not have to do the separate procedure for recalibrating the battery. Higher the battery life the better will be the battery backup after the firmware update process.
  • Please note that you need to ensure that you have installed the latest version of KIES along with the latest version of .net framework in your computer. After installing the KIES, ensure that the same is completely closed in the computer as these applications tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Apart from the above one, you will also need to ensure that the you have closed all the Antivirus as well as the Firewall suites. Also, you should have the admin privileges in your computer so that full USB read / Write access is there. Last but not the least your computer / laptop should be powered with the Windows XP / 7 or Vista operating system. As of now the MAC Systems are not supporting the Odin flash tool, so you can’t proceed with this process on your Apple MAC.
  • Additionally, you will also have to ensure that the USB Debugging Mode is turned On before you proceed with the instructions. The USB debugging mode can be turned ON by Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.

Info for Custom ROM users:
Just in case if you are already on the custom ROM and wish to apply this custom ROM now, you will first up get into the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, in the power Off mode press Volume Down Key + Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. As soon as you get into the recovery mode, you will have to choose the options of Wipe data/factory reset and after that select Wipe Cache partition. After this you will need to select the option of “reboot system now” and then the device will be starting in the normal mode.

Additionally, also note that just in case if you have installed any of the Voodoo products then don’t forget to disable the same too from the recovery mode. Please note that without this if you proceed then the update many not be successfully applied and also you may experience issues while booting up the device.

Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 with Exynos ROM:

  • Please note that since it’s a XXKG6 2.3.4 firmware version based ROM, you will have to first up update the phone with this firmware and then you need to root the XXKG6 firmware. As soon as you root the same, you now can proceed with the instructions which are mentioned below.
  • First of all you will now have to download the Exynos Custom ROM Zip File from here to your computer. Once you download this file to your computer, you now will have to connect the Samsung Galaxy S2 device to the computer with the help of the USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase.
  • Now, transfer the downloaded zip file to your phone in such a way that you will be easily able to find this zip file.
  • After placing the file in your phone, you need to turn Off your phone so that you can then enter your phone in the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, in the power Off mode press Volume Down Key + Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.   • Once you enter into the recovery mode, you will have to now choose the option of “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from sdcard” after which it will show all the zip files which are present in your phone along with other files. But from the list of files, you need to select the file which is named as “Exynos3.5_Custom.zip”.
  • Now, you need to wait till the updating process is finished, as soon as the updation process is completed the phone will be restarting and after which you will be prompted to enter the Google Account credentials to login into the Android Market Place followed by the Language preference of your choice.

Once you are done with the startup formalities, you are now all set to use your phone which laden with the latest version of Exynos ROM.
