Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S2 with XWKH4 Gingerbread 2.3.4:
- After downloading the Gingerbread XWKH4 Zip Package in your computer / Laptop you will need to extract the same to your desktop. Please note that in the process of firmware update you will be prompted to enter the password. The password which you will need to enter is “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- As soon as you extract the files you will see that there will be two files, one is the firmware tar file and another will be the Odin flash tool which we will see in the due course on how you can use the same.
- Up next is you need to open the Odin in your computer / Laptop and then turn Off the phone. Now, you will have to enter your phone in the download mode which is nothing but the safe mode for your phone. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video below to know more on how you can enter into the download mode for more convenience.
- Just in case if the phone boots up in the normal manner then you need to try again to enter the phone in the download mode. Now, after this while keeping Odin opened in computer, you will have to connect the Galaxy S2 to computer with the help of the USB cable.
- As soon as you connect the phone, you will see that first the drivers will be installing which are required for Odin to detect the phone. Once the drivers are successfully installed, the ID : COM section will turn yellow as shown in the below screen shot.
- Now, in Odin click on the “PDA” tab and choose the file named “GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKH4_I9100XXKH3_I9100XEUKD1”, you will find this file in the extracted contents. Please note that no other file should be selected and also all the settings should be kept as shown in the below screen shot.
Note: Ensure that the “Re – Partition” option is not checked and is unticked.
- Now you need to click on the “Start” tab in the Odin to initiate the process of firmware update. As soon as you click on the “Start” the firmware upgrade process will be initiated and then you will see that after sometime the phone will get restarted on its own which will signify that the firmware upgrade has undergone successfully.
- In the due course of the firmware update you need to just ensure that you are not interrupting the process of firmware update, just in case if it gets interrupted due to unavoidable situations then you need to remove the battery, re insert it and then you need to again follow the instructions from the start.
- After successful updation you will now have to turn Off the phone so that you can get into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. - In recovery mode, you will have to select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Please note that you will have to ensure that you don’t select any other options or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone.
