Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9100 with XWKK5 Gingerbread 2.3.6:
- So, once you are done with the list of pre Requisites which are mentioned in the last page you now need to download the XWKK5 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Package in your computer after which you need to extract the same. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without inverted comas as shown in the below image.
- So once you finish the extraction of files, you then need to match with the below shown image as after extraction you will get two files, one is the Odin executable file and another will be the Firmware file which we will be using in the next few steps.
- Now, from the extracted files, you need to open the Odin flash tool executable file as shown below and then you need to turn off the phone. Turn On your phone in the download mode while keeping the Odin opened in the computer.
- The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Refer below Video for more.
- As soon as you enter download mode, with the help of Original USB cable connect the Galaxy S2 with computer after which the drivers will first be installed followed by which the ID : COM section in Odin will turn yellow which means that all the drivers are now ready.
- After this you need to click on “PDA” tab in Odin and select the file which is named as “GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKK5_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI3.tar.md5” after which you need to click on the “Start” tab to start the process of firmware update as shown in the below screen capture. Also, don’t forget to select or match all other options as mentioned in the below image or else the firmware won’t get applied.
- Once you click on “Start”, the process of firmware will be commenced and then you need to wait for up to 10 minutes as this is the rough time for the installation to get finished. As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the device will be rebooted which will mean that the firmware has been successfully updated.
- To check whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not, you need to go to the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as XWKK5 2.3.5 Gingerbread version.
Now, turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. You can enter recovery mode by holding the Volume UP key and then press the Power ON button simultaneously. In the recovery mode screen, you need to select “Wipe Data / factory reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition” which will clear off all the data which is stored in the phone.
