Procedure to Update Samsung Vibrant with ICS 4.0.4 IMM76I:
- Assuming that your device is rooted and installed with the clock work mod recovery, you now need to download IMM76I 4.0.4 Custom ROM Firmware & Google Apps Package from here to your computer.
- Connect your phone to computer with the help of original USB cable and place the two zip files in your device’s internal SD Card. Ensure that you are not placing the file deep into the sub folders.
- Now, turn Off the device so that you can then enter the device in the recovery mode. To boot Samsung Vibrant in recovery mode, press Volume Down + Volume Up rocker keys together and Power ON the device by pressing the power button. If the phone boots up in the normal mode, you again need to enter the device in the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, select options “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” so that all the data is wiped off completely. Now, select the option of “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the ICS 4.0.4 IMM76I based firmware Zip file which you have placed in your phone and then the Google Apps.
- It will take around 5 – 6minutes for applying the update. Once it’s done, it will either land up in the recovery screen or will get restarted automatically.
- To check whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you need to go to the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where it will show Android 4.0.4 IMM76I Firmware. Just in case if it shows any other firmware version then you again need to follow the instructions.
Note: Just in case if the device is rebooting again and again, then you need to re insert the battery and repeat the process of firmware update from the start.
