How to Update SONY Ericsson Xperia Pro with Official ICS 4.0.4 Firmware

Express Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your device should be backed up with the help of ONLY below steps and not with the SONY PC Companion. Also, additionally ensure that you have installed the latest version of PC Companion in your computer so as to make sure that all the drivers are installed.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging in your SONY Xperia Pro and also make sure that all of your PC’s USB ports are active and are working. Also, last but not the least ensure that your Xperia Pro is left with the minimum of 60% battery charge so as to ensure that it doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of ICS 4.0.4 update. If possible, you need to ensure that your computer also has ADB Installed in your computer which you can get the same from Android.com
  • If you are on any of the custom ROM firmware, then enter the device into recovery mode and clear all the data and wipe the cache or else the upgrade process may corrupt some data files.
