Procedure to Update SONY Xperia ARC with xMod Ice Bean 4.0.4 Firmware:
- First up you need to ensure that the Boot loader in your SONY Xperia ARC is unlocked and also is rooted. Once the boot loader is unlocked and rooted from the above mentioned links, download “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store and check on whether the device is rooted or not. If it’s rooted then it will show as the “Rooted device”.
Note: Please note that once the boot loader is unlocked and the device is rooted, the warranty will get void. The only way with which the warranty can be reclaimed is by re applying with the original firmware which you need to note from the “Settings > About Phone” section.
- Now, you need to download the xMod Ice Bean 4.0.4 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, you need to connect your device with the computer using the original USB cable and then place the downloaded zip file in your device. If you are unable the see the CWM icon or say the ROM Manager app in your device, then download the ROM Manager app and install the Clock Work mod recovery.
- Disconnect the device and turn off the device so that it can be then entered in the recovery mode. Turn your phone ON and as soon as you do so, you need to keep pressing the Volume Down button. Once it’s downloaded, the device will be entered in the clockwork mod recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the xMod firmware package which you have placed in your device. Once its selected, you now need to wait for 5 -6 minutes till the update is applied.
- Now, once it’s done you will have to follow the on screen instructions for configuring the Data as well as the data connectivity.
Note: Just in case if the device doesn’t boot up or say gets into the boot loop sequence, you need to long press the power button or reinsert the battery to turn off the device and retry the whole process from start.
