Procedure to apply Cyanogen Mod 7.1 update:
There are in all two methods with which you can apply this Cyanogen MOD in your phone, one is by using the Recovery method and another one is by using the ROM Manager method.
Recovery Method for installation of Cyanogen Mod:
- First up you need to download the Cyanogen Mod 7.1 for View sonic G Tablet and also the Google Apps zip file in your computer. Once you download these zip files you will then need to now connect the tablet with the computer using the USB cable and then you will have to move these two files in your computer.
- Now, as soon as you place these files in your phone you will have to turn Off the device so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by holding the Volume Up button and the Power button until the G Tablet powers ON in the recovery mode screen.
- Please note that you can also take a backup of the current ROM which is there in your phone by just a simple procedure so that just in case of there is any issue with the Cyanogen Mod custom ROM then you can easily get back to the older ROM firmware which was your official firmware. Please note that you should not rename the zip files which you have copied them into your phone or else these files won’t get recognized in the phone.
- Now, after that you need to select the option of “Wipe data/factory reset” and also “Wipe cache partition” which will clear off all the cache data which is there in your tablet.
- Once the cache is cleared, proceed to select the option of “Install zip from sd card” and then select the option of “Choose zip from sdcard”. Now you need to select the option of “Cyanogen Mod update.zip” file which you have placed in the phone. Please note that you will have to also select the Google Apps zip file after flashing the Cyanogen Mod update file.
- Now once the installation process is done successfully you will then have to choose the option of “++++Go Back++++” to get back to the main menu so that you can then select the option of “Reboot System now” to enjoy the Cyanogen Mod firmware which is installed in your tablet.
Please note that just in case even after following the above instructions you are not able to install this ROM in your tablet then you need to follow the instructions which are mentioned below so as to install the Cyanogen Mod ROM 7.1.
ROM Manager for installation of Cyanogen Mod 7.1:
- After downloading and copying the two zip files which are Cyanogen Mod Zip file as well as the Google Apps to your G Tablet, you now need to download and install the ROM Manager application from the Android Market Place.
- The best part of the ROM Manager is that it allows you to take the backup of the current custom ROM. It’s better to create a backup of the same as just in case if anything wrong happens to the phone then you will be in a position to restore the phone in the last best known configuration. After that it may ask you for the super user access, simply select the option of “Allow” so that it doesn’t create any issues in updating the same.
- Now, in the ROM Manager, you need to select the option of “install zip from sd card” and then need to choose the Zip file which is the Cyanogen Mod 7.1 zip file followed by the Google Apps zip file.
- So, as soon as both the files are successfully updated you will then see that the phone will be restarted on its own and if not then select the option of “++++Go Back++++” to get back to the main menu so that you can then select the option of “Reboot System now” to enjoy the Cyanogen Mod firmware which is installed in your tablet.
