Vivo launched the Vivo Y31 smartphone back in September last year with entry-level specifications like 4.7-inch HD display, MediaTek MT6580 quad-core SoC, 1GB RAM, 8MP Camera and 2100mAh battery for $154. Earlier, we exclusively reported about the Vivo Y31A receiving the TENAA certification revealing most of the specifications and design. Today, the brand has officially unveiled the successor of the Vivo Y31 named as Vivo Y31A in China. The smartphone is currently listed on the company’s official website and is expected to go on sale soon.
Coming to the specifications part, the Vivo Y31A comes with a 4.7-inch IPS qHD (540×960 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 234ppi when compared to Vivo Y31 that features 5-inch HD display. Under the hood, it packs 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz clubbed with Adreno 304 GPU while the earlier launched Vivo Y31 packs MediaTek MT6580 quad-core SoC. It has 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory upto 128GB.
On the camera section, the smartphone sports an 8MP autofocus primary camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP front-facing camera with a f/2.4 aperture for video calling and crisp selfie images. Both the cameras of the device support 1080p video recording at 30fps. The smartphone supports dual sim dual standby and comes with standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port. The Vivo Y31 lacks 4G-LTE support and is one of the significant difference between both the handsets.
The handset comes backed by a similar 2100mAh battery that the company claims has the juice to last for an entire day considering the low-end specifications. The device runs on older Android 5.0 Lollipop based FunTouch OS overlaid out of the box, and there is no information on the further updates. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 137.2 x 76 x 8.39 mm weighs around 141 grams and comes in Black and White color options. The Y31A with few upgrades over its predecessor is expected to be priced similarly. Stay tuned for more updates on pricing and availability of the smartphone in coming days!
