Xiaomi Mi 3 gets Huge MIUI Update (MIUI KXDMIBE18.0 Stable) – Details, Change Log

Whenever a smartphone gets launched in the market, we keep seeing a few small updates after the users report any issues. But with the Mi 3 from Xiaomi being there in the Chinese market since long, all the devices are getting a big update today, as it rolls out to even the new Xiaomi Mi 3 devices which were shipped just yesterday. The update brings quite a lot of changes to the already sleek and good looking UI.

What Xiaomi updated here is – addition of a few new features, and fixing all the bugs that were reported since the last major MIUI update was sent. Check below for the list of changes that you would get to see in this update.

MIUI KXDMIBE18.0 Update – New Features

  • Incoming calls will only show in the Status bar during a full-screen task
  • App names and other home screen elements will automatically change colors with wallpapers
  • Optimized online music page
  • Support Syncing songs to Mi Cloud
  • Added two types of weather – Freezing rain and hail
  • Data saving mode added
  • Online page text font with change with theme font
  • Support WML page
  • Show searching result in new page after choosing “Find in Page” for selected text
  • New version of Blocklist under Security center

MIUI KXDMIBE18.0 Update – Fixed Features

  • Could not use VPN earlier, now that is fixed
  • Sometimes opening unnamed contacts would cause Contacts app to Force Close. The issue is fixed now
  • Fixed the issue where earlier call logs were visible in guest mode
  • Fix for – force closing contacts app when SIM contacts were being edited and home button was pressed
  • Fix for – when adding an extension number to contacts after calling, it would show number incorrectly
  • Fix for – if birthday is entered as February 29th without choosing year, it showed as March 1st
  • Fix for – force closing of Messaging app when contacts were chosen repeatedly
  • Fix – the MMS was not getting deleted if content failed to download
  • Fix – Notification messages’ avatars didn’t change with themes
  • Fix – sometimes the Messaging app was force closed when enabling cloud messaging in Mi Cloud
  • Sometimes, the No SIM Card icon would not disappear in notification panel – this issue was fixed
  • Fix – Icons were shown repeated
  • Fix – Icons in the dock were in the wrong order automatically
  • When turning flashlight on, camera lost focus. This issue is fixed
  • Fix – Incoming calls from people in exception list in DND did not ring
  • Calendar app – 1. screen didn’t turn off after waking up by pop-up reminder, 2. Sometimes the homescreen widget showed months incorrectly, 3. Slowing down of page when swiping, 4. Sometimes the app itself force closes while opening
  • Fixing the conflict between DND exception list and Blocklist exception list
  • Fix – Sometimes the alarm clock delayed in ringing

MIUI KXDMIBE18.0 Update – Optimized Features

  • Simplified display method of WeChat/ Google+ accounts in contacts details page
  • Set QQ as default IM when adding a new contact
  • When sending contact information through SMS, contacts’ recently used numbers will be marked
  • Support recognizing time information in a message and adding it to calendar
  • When a new message is being written, cursor goes automatically to text box once the contact is selected
  • When URL in MMS is clicked, pop-up notifications are shown
  • New kernel supports system theme font
  • Optimized monthly view in Calendar app
  • Clean up optimization in security center
  • Clicking on “Not enough system storage” notification will take you to Cleaner – Advanced directly

The update is being rolled out already, and if you didn’t find the update popup already, go to the following section to check for the MIUI update manually.

  • Go to Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates
  • Alternatively, you can directly go to Tools Folder on your home screen, and see the app named “Updater” which will take you to the same section.

It is of around 619MB in size, although you are shown about 592MB, and make sure you are connected to the Wi-Fi network for the download and installation to occur. And also, make sure you are taking a backup of the content before you start with the update process in the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone.
