Xiaomi held a press event in Kuala Lumpur, to officially launch the Mi3 and RedMi 1S smartphones in Malaysia after its entry in the country last month. The Xiaomi Mi 3 will start its sale from 12 PM tomorrow and the RedMi 1S will be released later, next month. The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi is well known for its MIUI operating system an all its smartphones run the same. The company will sell the smartphone via its web store and also through the telecom operators like Celcom, Maxis and Digi.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 that was introduced last year will be coming with a 5 inch full HD touch screen display and will run on the company’s own MIUI Operating system based on Android 4.33. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and it is coupled with 2 GB of RAM. There is a 3050 mAh battery at the back of the device to power it. The Xiaomi Mi 3 has a 13 MP camera on the rear with LED flash and a 2 MP camera on the front for video calling. The device will include the connectivity like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S flaunts a 4.7 inch 720p HD touchscreen display and will be powered by a quad core Snapdragon 400 processor clocking at 1.6 GHz. The device will run, Android 4.3 based MIUI V5 operating system and has a 2000 mAh battery on the back to power the device. There is an 8 MP camera on the rear and is supported by a 1.6 MP camera on the front. It comes with 8 GB of internal memory that can be extended via microSD card slot and it is a dual SIM variant with the connectivity of Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 is priced at RM 889 and the price of Xiaomi Redmi 1S has not been mentioned yet, but expected to be around RM 410. The company is offering only 4000 units of Mi 3 smart phone for now and expected to ship more units soon.
