Alcatel had done a long list of announcements during the CES 2013, with the phones like Alcatel One Touch Idol, the One Touch Scribe HD, One Touch Idol Ultra and a few other too, but it hasn’t stopped itself from keeping the announcement list active, as they have added a couple more devices into the list, one of them being the Alcatel One Touch Star Android smartphone which comes with the 4-inch WVGA touchscreen with the AMOLED display, which is one of the special features of this smartphone.
The affordable handset from Alcatel is going to come with again with a few color choices as we have seen always from them, and this one is designed neatly with the 5-megapixel camera in the rear side having the speaker grill and the LED flash on the either side. Weighing somewhere similar to the iPhone, Alcatel has actually made this device a bit heavy when compared to the previous phones announced from them.
What one would have expected better from the company is the battery to be something more than 1500 mAh which is provided in it, and apart from that there would nothing much to talk against about this device. The 4-inch AMOLED display will have a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, while the processor would be a Dual-core one clocking at 1GHz, and there’s a support by 512MB of RAM which are all the mid-range specs, for which Alcatel has decided to go with much affordable pricing, which is not yet announced.
The storage available in the One Touch Star is 4GB, which can be expanded to 32GB using a MicroSD card. There is a secondary camera too on the front side above the display, which is of 0.3-megpaixel, doing nothing good than a decent video chat. Apart from the 3G connectivity through the SIM (Single or Dual optional), the connectivity options available are Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 connectivity and the GPS.
There was once a time when such similar specs were seen in one of the first Android phones from Samsung, in the Galaxy S but the pricing was somewhere around US $600, but with the competition and the actual need in the market, Alcatel is going to be pretty wise in setting a good pricing for the One Touch Star.
The smartphone just like the other from the company, are said to be entering the market in limited areas in the next quarter, and the actual availability details and pricing would be announced then.
