Axis bank being the 3rd largest private sector bank has launched its mobile app with the name “Axis Mobile” and a caption of “A NEW WAY OF BANKING – YOUR WAY”. The app (size under 10 MB for version 1.2 ) can be downloaded from the Google play store for the android users and the iTunes store for the apple users or can be commonly downloaded to any platform (also Blackberry and Java) by sending an SMS of MBANK to 5676782.
The mobile app in their own words is simple, user-friendly, convenient and secure and can be accessed by the NRI customers too. After Installing the Application you will be directed to a welcome page which will take 3 easy steps to login and start banking from the App.
To access the rest of the features one is expected to login to their account. One can always register as a new customer if he doesn’t already have any mobile login credentials. Registration can be completed by entering your Internet banking details or by giving your Debit Card details (New to the channel type of customers).
One can use the app to locate the nearest ATM and bank branches from their current location (using GPS ). View different products and offers given by the bank. These features don’t even require you to login to your account.
One you login you can view the details of your accounts, make fund transfers, do a prepaid recharge, pay bills, customize the settings (like option to change your mPIN), make requests (cheque books, statements etcetera), view messages from the bank. Though the features provided by an mobile app are same as that of online banking, the simple UI and easy to understand controls make it a much more preferred way to bank.
There are no additional charges for transacting using Axis Mobile app and the Max amount of fund transfer is limited to 1,00,000 per day.
Issues frequently faced/reported with the application:
- One issue that is reported is the glitch with the recharging system. While doing a pre-paid recharge, the amount is instantly deducted from the account irrespective of the status of the operation (which usually results in an technical error and unsuccessful recharge) .
- Difficulties in addition of multiple accounts for a single user.
- Slow and non-responsive screen issues have been reported post the latest version update.
