Coolpad Cool2 with Helio P20 SoC & 6GB RAM Spotted on TENAA

Coolpad is the first manufacturer to launch a dual SIM dual standby mobile phone. Though it is also listed in the top 10 list of global smartphone manufacturers, the company’s market share had been gradually decreased in the last few years. LeEco has completed a deal with Coolpad in the first half of 2016 making it the majority shareholder. Even Yueting Jia, CEO of LeEco also became the Chairman of Coolpad. Recently, Coolpad in partnership with LeEco launched the Cool1 smartphone with dual camera setup.

It came with high-end specifications along with a unibody metal design. The device was priced very competitively which makes it a better choice than the Xiaomi’s affordable dual camera smartphone, Redmi Pro. Now the company is gearing up to launch the Cool2 smartphone with even beefy specifications. The device is now listed on TENAA with the model number “Coolpad A9S-9” and we can expect it to launch soon in China. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with the LeEco’s

The device comes powered by the recently announced 2.35GHz MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor built on 16nm architecture. This new processor supports Worldmode Cat.6 LTE that offers upto 300Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds. The upcoming Meizu Pro 6S is also rumored to use the same processor. On the front, it features a 5.5-inch OLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The Helio P20 SoC is coupled with Mali T880 GPU & a whopping 6GB of RAM which makes the cool2 most powerful smartphone from Coolpad.

It includes 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via the MicroSD card slot. The Cool2 sports 12MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. However, the listing shows the number of cameras on the device as three, so we are expecting the dual cameras on the front instead of on the rear as seen on Coolpad Cool1. While LeEco smartphones skipped the 3.5mm audio port for using the USB Type-C earphones using CDLA technology, the Cool2 still sports the standard 3.5mm audio port.

The Cool2 also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G & VoLTE compatibility. With all these powerful specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 3,800mAh non-removable battery and might also support Pump Express 3.0 for fast charging. It measures 152 x 75.5 x 7.85 mm and weighs 171 grams. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of the device. From the above featured image, we can see the power button and SIM card slot on the right edge while the volume rocker sits on the left edge of the device.

The listing also mentioned the device to be available in two variants of Gold. Talking about the Coolpad devices in India, last week the company has unveiled the Coolpad Note 5 as the successor to popular Coolpad Note 3 and Note 3 Plus. It is priced at just Rs. 10,999 and comes with a metal body featuring high-end (sort of) specifications. It has 5.5″ Full HD display, Snapdragon 617 octa-core SoC, and 4GB of RAM. There is also a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera and a 4,010mAh battery.

Unlike Cool series smartphones, the Coolpad Note 5 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Cool UI. It will be available two color options – Champagne Gold and Noble Black. The device will be on sale starting from October 20th exclusively through Amazon India.
