In November 2015, Samsung launched a high-end clamshell smartphone called as Samsung W2016 in China. The smartphone features 3.9-inch dual HD displays, Exynos 7420 SoC, 3GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Now, it seems like the Chinese smartphone maker, Gionee is all set to launch a premium Clamshell device called as Gionee W909 in China as the brand has recently sent out media invites for an event scheduled for Mar 29th. The W909 is the upgraded variant of the Gionee W900S that recently went on sale in China. The Gionee W909 was also spotted on TENAA last month that reveled many key features of the upcoming device.
As per the rumored specifications, the Gionee W909 features dual 4.2-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD displays and comes powered by Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz paired with Mali-T860 GPU. The device will come with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory upto 128GB. The device supports dual sim dual standby and is expected to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Connectivity options on the device include 4G-LTE, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB port.
On the camera front, the device comes with a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter for video chats and selfie lovers. The smartphone sports rich looks with metal body design and also includes a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. The Gionee W909 is the world’s first clamshell smartphone to feature a fingerprint sensor. The dimensions of the handset measure 124.6 x 62.5 x 16.4 mm and weighs around 210 grams.
