Samsung, the giant manufacturer of smartphones, has come up with something entirely different this time. The smartphone is called as Samsung W2016, which is a clamshell smartphone that has been in rumor for quite some time. Earlier, it was supposed to be called as Galaxy Golden 3 when TENNA listing surfaced online.
The main selling point of W2016 is it comes with dual 3.9-inch (1280×768 pixels) HD Super AMOLED displays offering a pixel density of 383ppi. It comes powered by an Exynos 7420 processor clocked at 2.1GHz coupled with 3GB RAM. The device has 64GB of built-in storage, and there is no microSD card slot for expansion of memory. It is worth mentioning that the W2016 sports similar processor earlier seen on the flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone.
On the camera cordon, the device sports the same 16MP rear camera seen on all the high-end Samsung devices like Note 5, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. On the front, it has 5MP shooter for video chats and perfect selfie images. On the connectivity front, the device supports 4G-LTE connectivity and other basic connectivity options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port.
The device comes backed by a smaller 2000mAh battery, but this might never be an issue as it comes with an added advantage of wireless charging support. The smartphone also features T9 physical keyboard alongside dual displays and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based TouchWiz UI out of the box. The dimensions of the handset measure 120.4 x 61 x 15.1 mm weighs 204 grams and will be available in Gold and Silver color variants.
The W2016 clamshell smartphone is now listed on Samsung’s China website, but there is no word on the availability and pricing details of the device. As Samsung launched the Galaxy Golden flip phone in India, we can also expect the W2016 to be launched in India. Stay tuned for more details…!
