Earlier, Gionee has officially announced the launch of its flagship Elife S8 smartphone at the MWC 2016 event to be held in Barcelona. Recently, the upcoming smartphone was also spotted on GeekBench listing revealing few key specifications about the device. Today, a new Clamshell smartphone from Gionee called as Gionee W909 has passed through TENAA showing the essential information and design of the device. The W909 will be the successor of Gionee W900s that was also earlier launched with dual displays.
As per the TENAA listing, the Gionee W909 will feature dual 4.2-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD TFT display and is expected to come powered by 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.8GHz clubbed with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will support dual sim dual standby and will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Amigo UI laid on top. On the camera cordon, the device will sport a 16MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for video chats and selfie lovers.
The device will come with 32GB of inbuilt storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 128GB. It has standard connectivity like 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB 2.0 port. The device sports premium looks with an all-metal body and also includes a fingerprint sensor at the back of the unit for enhanced security. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 124.6 x 62.5 x 16.4 mm weighs around 210 grams and is listed in Gold color variant. Although the company officially confirms nothing, as TENAA certifies it we can expect the upcoming Gionee W909 Clamshell smartphone to launch in coming weeks. A quick recall, Gionee has recently launched a new mid-range smartphone called as Gionee S6 in India priced at Rs. 19,999 and is available for sale online exclusively via Flipkart. The smartphone sports premium looks with slim metal body design and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The Gionee S6 features 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, MediaTek MT6753 octa-core SoC, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP camera with PDAF, USB Type-C port and 3000mAh battery.
