Earlier we exclusively reported about Huawei launching an impressive smartphone in its sub-brand Honor called as Honor 5X in China. Today, the company has officially announced the Honor 5X smartphone in the US. The Honor 5X is priced aggressively at $200 and will be available for pre-order in the US starting today via Amazon and shipping starts from January 31.
The Honor 5X sports an all-metal body made out of aluminum alloy and also feels premium in hand with the curved design. Regarding specifications, the smartphone flaunts a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display with 403ppi as pixel density and Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, it comes powered by Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. The device has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with microSD card slot for expansion upto 128GB.
On the camera front, the device features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and blue glass infrared filter for maximum brightness. On the front, it has a 5MP snapper with a f/2.4 aperture to capture the perfect selfie images. The rear camera also comes with ‘Food Mode’ that was earlier seen in the Honor 7 smartphone. Connectivity options on the dual sim capable device include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB 2.0 port.
The device also features a fingerprint scanner placed on the back of the device that is rated to unlock the device is just 0.48 seconds. The smartphone comes backed by a 3000mAh battery with quick charge 3.0 support that can charge the battery from 0-50% in just half hour of time. The handset runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 143.1 x 71.8 x 9.7 mm and weighs around 159 grams.
Today, the company has also sent out media invites for the launch of an unknown smartphone in India at an event scheduled for January 28 in New Delhi. As the Honor 5X is now official in the U.S, we can expect the same smartphone also to be launched in India.
