Meizu MX5 launched with Fingerprint Scanner and Laser Focus Rear Camera

Update: As earlier reported, Meizu today launched its latest flagship ‘Meizu MX5’ at an event in China. The device comes with a full metal body featuring an oval shaped home button integrated with a fingerprint scanner. Regarding the fingerprint scanner, the company says the MX5’s mTouch2.0 sensor makes identification faster such that the whole process takes only 0.48 seconds.

The device sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with PowerVR G5200 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

The rear camera on the device is of 20.7MP with Sony IMX220 Exmor R sensor with dual LED flash and laser autofocus. Meizu claims that laser focus help the camera to focus in less than 0.2 seconds. It also has a 5MP front-facing camera for better selfies. It has a battery of 3,150mAh that can be charged from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes.

There are three variants of internal storages 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB; there is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion. With all these specifications, the device measures only 7.6mm thick and weighs 149 grams. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop based Flyme UI. The devices are available in the colours- White, Gray and Gold. The company priced the 16GB variant at ¥1799 (₹18,446), 32GB variant at ¥1999 (₹20,515) and 64GB variant at ¥2399 (₹34,620). Meizu announced that the devices would be on sale from 5th July, and there is no information about the launch of the device outside their home country.

These renders are made based on the leaked specs we’ve seen thus far, and this may be the final design of the device or at least similar to it.

Recently, the pictures of the Meizu MX5 brochures containing information regarding MX5’s features appeared in the Chinese Weibo. The pictures revealed the features of the phone including Flyme system, and mCharge fast charge technology.

The mCharge is fast charging tech which will make it possible to charge up Meizu MX5 up to 25% in 10 minutes of charging, and to 60% in 40 minutes of charging time. In fact, Meizu MX5 will support 9V, 12V high-voltage fast charging function.

A number of new images of alleged MX5 have leaked, showing the metal housing of the device. This confirms earlier reports that the MX5 would feature an all-metal build. In the images, we can also see that there is a cutout for an oval shaped home button. This implies the fact that the MX5 will boast a fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu MX5, the successor to Meizu MX4 flagship smartphone of 2014 is all set launch soon. Last week, the smartphone appeared in a number of live images, as well as it passes through the TENAA. Now, some new photos of the alleged Meizu MX5 have surfaced online, showing the rear alloy panel of the new phone. In the leaked images, the rounded corners, a rear-facing camera and a dual LED flash slots can also be seen.

The MX5 is expected to launch on 30th June and will again feature that ‘new’ physical home button but this time around with built-in fingerprint scanner. The rumoured specs of Meizu MX5 include 5.5” 1080p AMOLED display, Mediatek MT6793 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable memory, and 20MP camera. The handset will run FlymeOS 4.5 on top of Android Lollipop.

Earlier: Images of the alleged Meizu MX5 Leaked; shows Nearly Bezel-less Metal Body
A number of images have leaked today allegedly showing off the Meizu MX5, the successor of MX4 smartphone. The MX4, MX4 Pro and M1 Note were announced last year. According to the latest leaks, the Meizu MX5 might sport a physical home button much like the MX4 Pro which launched last year.

According to the leaks, Meizu MX5 will have one of the thinnest bezels around. ZTE’s Nubia Z9 did really great in that aspect, and it seems like this China-based company is looking to follow ZTE’s lead and introduced some really great looking devices this year. The MX5 is expected to feature 3 or 4GB of RAM, and Android Lollipop will come pre-installed on this handset with the company’s Flyme UI on top of it.

The company has announced the M1 Note’s successor M2 Note at their event in Beijing, today. It has a 5.5-inch FullHD display. It is equipped with the updated version to Mediatek’s midrange MT6752 chipset. The m2 note comes with a 13MP primary camera which uses a Samsung-made CMOS sensor. It’s housed behind a five-element f/2.2 lens, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. On the front you get a 5MP snapper with a 69° f/2.0 lens.
