According to Meizu VP Li Nan, “Many of the domestic flagship devices are using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but the user experience sucks, consumers are often being fooled, sadly, no one in the industry is ready to tell the truth, but Meizu hopes that by publishing this sub-brand ‘PRO’ they change this status”. Further, he says that “A lot of consumer high-end smartphone OEMs are blindly following the trend, rather than to solve the fundamental problems”.

As of now not much is known about the new flagship smartphone but the rumours suggest that the device will be available in two variants. One version will come powered by Exynos 7420 chipset, it is the similar processor used in Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5. The other version will have the MediaTek Helio X20 6797 deca-core SoC.

According to the leaks, the PRO 5 will feature a premium metallic design and will come equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD 1080p display. With Bai Yongxiang, President, and co-founder, Meizu saying 2k display are not logical for phones. The device might also come with a fingerprint sensor, i.e., seen in most of the high-end smartphones these days and will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Flyme OS. Other rumoured specs are 21MP rear camera, 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage and a 3000mAh battery.

Meizu entered the Indian market earlier this year with the launch of Meizu M1 Note and launched its brand officially last month. The company is currently selling two smartphones in the sub-continent called M2 Note and MX5. We can also expect the Meizu PRO 5 to launch in India but nothing has been officially confirmed.
