The India’s second largest smartphone maker, Micromax has launched its latest flagship smartphone in its Canvas series dubbed as Canvas 5. The Canvas 5 is the successor to the Canvas 4 smartphone that launched back in 2013 and is an upgrade in every aspect. The smartphone comes with metal-styled side frame, and leather-like back cover giving it a premium look and classy feel. The smartphone is available in stores across India starting today and is priced at Rs. 11,999.
Coming to its specifications, the Canvas 5 flaunts a 5.2-inch (1080×1920 IPS Full-HD display offering 423ppi as pixel density with 2.5D arc glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. The smartphone comes powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with Mali-T720 MP2 GPU and 3GB RAM. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage that is further expandable via a microSD card slot upto 64GB.
On the photography front, the device sports a 13MP Samsung 3M2 rear camera with LED flash and PDAF technology for faster focus. On the front, it has a 5MP shooter to capture crisp selfie images. It has dual sim dual standby support and connectivity options on the smartphone includes 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB port.
The handset comes backed by a 2900mAh battery that is rated to last for one complete day on mixed usage. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with planned upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow shortly. The dimensions of the device measure 148 x 73.6 x 8.3 mm weighs around 143 grams and is available in colors- Black with Gold and Black with Grey.
Micromax Canvas 5 at this price tag comes with some value to money specifications and will be a good competitor for the likes of recently launched Xolo Black 1X, Xiaomi Mi4i and Lenovo K3 Note Music among others.
