After several rumors, the food and beverage company PepsiCo has today officially launched a smartphone called as Pepsi Phone P1s in China. It is worth mentioning that Pepsi is just licensing its branding, and the smartphone is manufactured by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. The standard variant of the smartphone is called as P1 and the China Unicom version with FDD-LTE support is known as P1s.
As earlier said by the company the Pepsi Phone P1s is not a high-end smartphone and comes with mid-range specifications. The device features a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display with 2.5D arc glass on top of it. Under the hood, is the MediaTek MT6592 processor paired with Mali 450-MP4 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage and microSD card slot for further expansion. The device comes with a hybrid dual sim slot and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based dido 6.1 OS out of the box.
On the camera section, the device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for video chats and perfect selfie images. Connectivity options on it include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port. It features an aluminum unibody design and also comes with a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the unit. The handset comes backed by a 3000mAh battery and is available in Blue, Gold, and Silver color variants.
The Pepsi Phone P1s is available for order via a crowdfunding campaign on jd.com in China. The Early Bird offer of the smartphone for CNY 499 (approx $78) is now out of stock, but you can still grab one at CNY 699 (approx $110) that is limited to 1000 orders. With the launch of the Pepsi Phone P1s smartphone the company aims to collect CNY 3,000,000 (approx $4,70,000) by December 3rd.
