Ever since the Xiaomi started selling Redmi 1S budget Android smartphone in India from this year, it has got good response and sold many handsets in India. The phone offers decent specification and great features at budget price. But many users in India have complained about the overheating issue in Redmi 1S and also issues with RAM availability in MIUI. Now, Xiaomi has released latest OTA update (v45) which according to them will solve some of the major issues that have been pointed out by the Indian Redmi 1S users.
New ROM update v45 is available for all Redmi 1S Users, for those who are upgrading from v41.1 the size of the new update is 515MB & those from v43 to v45 is around 11MB. Make sure the build number after the update is: JHCMIBH45.0
Following are the some issues that have been fixed in the new update.
- Xiaomi improved their thermal control algorithm to better regulate temperature and keep it under 38C (some users experienced temperature sometimes above 45C) in normal usage conditions. This would fix the heating issues.
- To fix the issue of the background apps getting killed, Xiaomi made a few significant improvements in how MIUI manages RAM on a 1GB device, which would result in noticeable improvements.
- By making RAM available and addressing the overheating issues which are the main reason for CPU throttling. And performance issues such as frame rate drops and UI lag (this happens during computationally intensive tasks like gaming) has been addressed.
Apart from the announcement of the update on Facebook, Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi has addressed the concerns regarding the Redmi 1S device specifications for the processor and battery not correctly represented on Flipkart, Mi.com and the device itself.
The phone sports a 4.7-inch screen. It is powered by 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SOC processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. Its on-board storage capacity is 8GB that is further expandable up to 64GB and is powered by a 2000 mAh battery. On its camera front, Redmi 1S sports an 8MP rear camera at front and 1.6MP front-facing camera.
Around 100,000 units of Redmi 1S will be available for sale on Flipkart on October 14 from 2 pm onwards. Xiaomi Redmi 1S sales have almost crossed the 3,00,000 mark so far. Touted as the ‘Apple’ of China, Xiaomi is one of the latest entrants in the Indian smartphone market, following other Chinese firms like Oppo and Gionee.
