Yesterday we have posted about the newly launched smartphone ‘Sharp AQUOS crystal 2’ in Japan. Today, Sharp announced a new smartphone that will be the successor of 2014 flagship device AQUOS Crystal X and it is named as ‘AQUOS Xx’, the company decided to drop the Crystal from their flagship line-up. As we seen on the other Sharp smartphones, the upcoming flagship will also feature the bezel-less display. It has a metallic frame that gives the premium look to the device.
The Sharp AQUOS Xx features a 5.7-inch FullHD (1080×1920) S-CG LCD display and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon MSM8994 octa-core processor along with Adreno 430 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot that can be further expanded up to 128GB. The smartphone comes with 3000mAh of battery that can last for more than a day.
It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. The front-facing camera along with a bunch of sensors are placed under the screen due to the bezel-less display, even the earpiece speaker is removed, and it is replaced with a bone conducting technology. The smartphone features ultra slow-mo video recording at 210 fps in 480p and can be later interpolated to 2100fps. This is not the first smartphone to include this feature Sharp AQUOS Zeta (SH-03G) which was launched last week in Japan also had the same feature.
Connectivity of the device includes Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, 3G, NFC, GPS/A-GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. The device weighs about 168 grams and measures 146 x 79 x 8.7 (mm). It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It comes in white, black and red colour variants.
The pricing and availability of the device are unknown, it is expected to rollout next month in Japan. We can also expect the upcoming flagship to be available in the global markets.
