Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy GIO S5660 with XXKQG Gingerbread 2.3.3:
- First up, you need to download the Gingerbread XXKQG 2.3.3 Zip Package which contains all the required files which are needed for the firmware update process to your computer. As soon as you download the same, you need to extract the same to the desktop. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once you enter the password, the files will be extracted successfully and then you will find that there will be two files with the names “Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.42” which is the Odin flash tool and other one is the firmware file which is “S5660XXKQG_S5660SEBKQ1_S5660XXKQ5_HOME.tar.md5”.
- Now, open the Odin flash tool and then you need to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter the download mode which is nothing but the safe mode for your phone. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video below to know more on how you can enter into the download mode for more convenience.
- Now, keeping the Odin opened in the computer, connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable while the phone is in the download mode. As soon as you connect the phone, you will see that the necessary driver installation process will be initiated and then you will see that after sometime the ID : COM block will turn yellow which will mean that you are now ready to proceed with the installation process.
- At this stage you will need to click on the “One Package” option which is there in the Odin. This option will be there in the left hand side of the Odin screen, just tick on the same. Once you tick on the same, all the options will be disabled except the “OPS” and the “One Package”. Now all you need to do is to just click on the “One Package” and choose the file named “S5660XXKQG_S5660SEBKQ1_S5660XXKQ5_HOME.tar.md5” from the extracted files.
- As soon as you select, double check the same whether the correct file is installed or not and as soon as you check with the same you now need to click on the “Start” option in the Odin.
- As soon as you click on the “Start”, you will now have to wait for the process to get completed and in this process it’s highly recommended to not to interrupt the process of firmware update or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone. Just in case if it gets interrupted due to unavoidable situations like Power cut etc., you then will have to repeat the whole procedure again from the start.
- Please note that just in case if the phone takes more than 10 minutes to finish the process then that means that the process has been stuck and the same needs to be sorted out by re inserting the battery and restarting the whole process again from the start.
So, if the firmware upgrade is successful, you will then see that the device will be restarting and then you will have to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode to clear all the junk and the corrupted cache files which are there in your phone. This step is very important in ensuring the smooth functioning of the phone.
Note : You will have to reconfigure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
So, in this way you have successfully updated the phone to the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.3 in your Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660.
