Pre Requisites:
- In the process of the firmware application in your Galaxy SL I9003, the data which is there in phone will get erased, so you will have to ensure that all the data which is stored in the phone is backed up so that the same can be restored at any point of time after the firmware upgrade if the data is lost. Generally, the data which is stored in the phone gets lost which includes SMS, Contacts and other data which is stored in the phone. So, the data which you need to create the backup of includes the SMS, Contacts, Music, Images, Videos and other data. SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- After this you will have to ensure that the phone is having a charge of minimum 75% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
- Now, up next is you need to check whether the current firmware on your Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 is XXKPE version of Gingerbread or not. If it’s not the version then you will have to update it first and then only you can proceed with the upgrade instructions to nexus S ROM. To check on which version of firmware you are on, you will have to go to the path of Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will find the version of Android OS where it will show XXKPE. If there is anything else then you need to follow the procedure to update with XXKPE first.
- Just in case if you are on the custom ROM then you will have to get into the recovery mode first and then you need to select the options like Wipe Cache partition and Wipe Data as after doing this you will see that all the cache data will be deleted. Also, just in case if the Voodoo components are installed then you need to disable the same from the “advanced” option in recovery mode.
