Procedure to Update VZW Galaxy Tab 10.1 with I905.EL01Update:
There are two ways with which you can apply this update, one it over the OTA which is the server initiated one and another one is the server initiated one.
Requirements:
- High Speed Data connection as the Update Size is 351MB, if there is a slow connection then it will take some time.
- Backup all the data which is there in your tab or else there is a high probability that you may end up losing all the data,
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Notes – Manually save the notes in your mail as these will be lost in the process of firmware update
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network
- Also, you need to ensure that the tab is left with the minimum charge of 80% so as to ensure that it doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update as it has to download and apply huge amount of data.
So, assuming that all the requirements are satisfactorily completed, you can now proceed to apply your tablet by the below mentioned instructions.
OTA Server Initiated:
- Before proceeding, you need to Press “Install now” and your device will power off and back on and the installation process will begin. Please note that just in case if you had chosen to “install later” it will delay the installation and the system update pop will be periodically appearing until you install the update. The whole process takes around 15 – 20 minutes.
- Once, you missed to see the notification as shown above, you need to go to the path “Home” > “Applications” > “Settings” > “About Device” > “System updates“. Press “Restart & install“. Your device will power off and back on and the installation process will be started.
Once the update is started, the device will be powered Off and you will see the screen as shown below.
Once the update is successfully finished, the device will be restarted.
OTA Manual Update:
- Just in case if you are in roaming or would like to apply this update over the WI Fi, then you will need to turn ON the Wi Fi first and then you can manually update from the path “Home” > “Application” > “Settings” > “About device” > “System updates”.
- You can enable the Wi Fi from the path “Settings” > “Wireless & networks”. Tap “Wi-Fi” to enable
Please note that just in case if the system update fails to get installed and you get an error screen you will have to again update the device manually. Let us know just in case if you face any issues as we will try our level best to sort out the same.
