Xiaomi Mi 4c with Snapdragon 808 SoC and USB Type-C Port Launched at $200

Update Sep 22: Today, Xiaomi has officially launched Mi 4c in Beijing. It will be available in colors – White, Black, Blue, Pink, and Orange. As rumored earlier, there will be only one million handsets available for sale that will be held on September 22nd on company’s official website. The 2GB RAM variant is priced at RMB1,299 (approx $200) and the 3GB RAM variant at RMB1,499 (approx $235).


Earlier Sep 16: Today, Xiaomi has officially announced that it will launch a new smartphone expanding its Mi 4 series dubbed as Mi 4c at an event in China on September 22. The new device is rumored to go on sale for the first time on October 3. After launching the Mi 4c, we can expect the company may launch its next flagship smartphone Mi 5 in coming months.


Coming to its specifications, the Mi 4c will flaunt a 5-inch (1080 * 1920pixels) display and will come powered by Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor clocked at 1.8Ghz coupled with Adreno 418 GPU. The device will sport a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for video calling and selfie clicks. The handset will come packed with a 3080mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support and is expected to run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based latest MIUI 7. The device is expected to arrive in two variants one with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage and the other with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The dimensions of the device measure 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8 mm weighing around 130 grams.

On the software front, the company has introduced a new ‘Edge Tap’ for clicking images just by tapping on the edge of the smartphone. The device has dual-sim dual standby support and connectivity on this device includes 4G-LTE, IR blaster, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port.

It also includes another interesting feature a USB Type-C port possibly version 3.0 and once unveiled Mi 4c will be the first handset in the Xiaomi line-up to come with a USB Type-C port. The other devices to include USB Type-C port are OnePlus, Galaxy Note 5 and ZUK Z1. The USB Type-C 3.0 port delivers higher transfer speeds than the normal USB Type-C port seen on the OnePlus smartphone.
