The One-handed operation is needed when you are holding a phone with a large screen and it is not easy to navigate or reach every corner of the screen with a single hand, and you won’t really want to have both of your hands busy holding and playing around with the smartphone. The LG G2 isn’t really a small sized device, although the thickness being less, makes it comfortable to use. Typing on these large screens is not easily possible in the portrait mode, and that’s where you look around for options which would help in making it easier for typing.
The LG G2 has got a feature called one-handed operation where you can choose to push the keyboard a little to either the left or right side based on your usage, and that makes it a little easier in handling the smartphone and typing when you can use only a single hand for it.
To set the LG keyboard’s one-handed operation, you need to go Settings > General > One-handed operation and here you would see a few options, in which you need to select – LG keyboard (Tap the left arrow button or right arrow button to adjust the position of LG keyboard).
Now, when you go to any app where the keyboard is needed, you will notice that it would have pushed the keyboard to the left and on the right, there is an arrow mark in the empty space, which on tapping would take the keyboard to the right, shifting the arrow mark to the left. This is for the users need, whether they want it for the left hand or right hand usage.
Alternatively, you can directly go to the keyboard, and in the bottom key row, the second one would be for the keyboard style option, where you can select either to have the standard keyboard, or the one-handed operation typing one. Either way, the result would be the same.
* Note: This setting would work only for the portrait mode, and you cannot do the one-handed operation and typing in the landscape mode, because in the landscape one, you would be seeing the split keyboard (which is quite popular with iPad users) where the keyboard is split into halves and pushed to the sides for easier typing with two hands.
