Earlier, we exclusively reported about Gionee teasing about the launch of its upcoming smartphone. Today, the company has officially launched a new smartphone called as Gionee S6 in China. The device comes with high-end specifications and is priced at 1699 Yuan (roughly $267).
Talking about the specifications, the Gionee S6 flaunts a 5.5-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD AMOLED display and comes powered by MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The device comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card slot upto 128GB. The handset comes backed by a 3150mAh battery that is rated to deliver upto 18.8 hours of talk time and upto 342 hours of standby time.
On the photographic section, the smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF technology for faster focus and LED flash. On the front, it has a 5MP shooter to capture perfect selfie images. The device supports dual sim dual standby and includes connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS/A-GPS and USB 2.0 Type-C with OTG functionality.
The main highlight of the smartphone is it sports a premium metal body and is just 6.99mm thick weighing around 147 grams. It also features a USB Type-C port, that was first used in the Gionee Elife S Plus smartphone that launched in India earlier this month. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo OS 3.1 and is available in colors- Gold and Platinum. Stay tuned for more details about the launch of the Gionee S6 in other countries.
