The HTC One X is the latest smartphone in the market with a quad core processor and has been in the buzz for quite sometime. Considering it to be the most powerful smartphone ever, the phone received great success after its launch until the Galaxy SIII from Samsung released. With a brilliant display, Beats Audio and quad core processing power, the HTC One X has a great build design too. The HTC One X is 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm in dimensions, while the Samsung Galaxy Note is 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm. The HTC One X weighs just 130 grams while the Samsung Galaxy Note is 178grams in weight, making the Galaxy Note weigh much more on the heavier side than the HTC One X.
The standard four Android buttons are not present in either of the phones. The HTC One X has a thin build frame and decent build quality three touch capacitive buttons below the screen. The back, home and options/shortcut button while the Samsung Galaxy Note has grand looks and sturdy build quality (except the plastic back cover) and comes with the Samsung styled buttons, one center button and a back and menu/options button with the centre button being a physical one and the other two as touch capacitive buttons.
Do remember that the HTC One X comes with Beats audio as well, just like the HTC Sensation XE and HTC Sensation XL. While the HTC Sensation XE has some interesting color highlights like the four capacitive buttons lighting up in red, the earpiece on the top and the camera ring covered in red, there aren’t any interesting or specific features like this on the HTC One X except the Beatsaudio logo printed at the rear bottom.

The HTC One X, comes with a Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen of 4.7 inches with a pixel density of 312ppi while the Samsung Galaxy Note has a larger Super AMOLED display of 5.3 inches as well and has a screen density of 285ppi. The HTC One X has a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels while the Samsung Galaxy Note has a resolution of 800×1280 pixels on it. The HTC One X’s display has the best brightness sensor and works efficiently when used under sunlight. Also, HTC’s In Plane Switching (IPS) technlogy enables the phone to display the most vibrant set of colors just the way they actually are.
Both the phones support Multi-touch and there is an accelerometer and proximity sensor on both the cellphones as well. Also, the HTC One X and the Galaxy Note from Samsung have a Gyroscope on them, also called as a Gyro sensor, which enhances motion based gaming and gestures.
Both the displays are capacitive touch displays, support multi touch input and have support upto 16M colors.

The Galaxy Note from Samsung has a 8MP camera while the HTC One X also has a similar 8MP Camera. The HTC One X can take photos upto a resolution of 3264×2448 pixels while the Galaxy Note from Samsung also has a maximum resolution of 3264×2448 pixels. There is autofocus and LED Flash on both the devices as well. Note that both the HTC One X and the Galaxy Note do not have a dual-LED flash and it is just the normal single LED Flash.
Geo tagging, face detection and image stabilization are standard features on both the smartphones. Also the HTC comes with HDR support on camera. Simultaneous HD video and image recording is also possible on the One X.
The Galaxy Note’s camera shoots video at 1080p resolution, at full HD at 30 frames per second while the HTC One X also shoots video at 1080p Full HD at 30 frames per second.
Also, note that there is a secondary camera on both the devices. The front camera is a 2MP one on the Galaxy Note while the HTC One X has a 1.3Megapixel camera on the front. This is used for normal camera purposes, by various camera based apps or for video calling via Skype, Google Talk etc. The HTC One X’s front camera can shoot video at 720p HD resolution while the Galaxy Note does ordinary VGA video recording only. The HTC One X has 32GB of internal memory, out of which 26GB is available for use by the user and does not support a microSD card slot while the Samsung Galaxy Note has 16/32 GB of internal memory for usage and is extendable as well, with support upto 32GB on the microSD. Note that the Galaxy Note comes with a 2GB card inside the box.

The HTC One X has GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 bands and HSDPA 850 /900/ 1900 / 2100 bands which gives maximum speeds upto 21Mbps on HSDPA and 5.76Mbps on HSUPA while the Samsung Galaxy Note also has similar bands on both 2G ( GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 ) and 3G ( HSDPA 850 /900/ 1900 / 2100 ) and both the phones work across the world, on almost all the bands that are available out there as they support multiple bands on 2G and 3G.
Both the phones have WiFi in them and support popular Wi-fi bands, compliant to the 802.11 standards. 802.11 b,g and n are supported and the WiFi Hotspot feature on them is also available on both the devices. GPS is available on both the phones and Bluetooth 4.0 is enabled on the HTC One X while the Samsung Galaxy Note comes with Bluetooth 3.0. There is EDR support with A2DP on both the phones as well.

Operating System and UI:
The Samsung Galaxy Note runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3.4, the previous version of Android while the HTC One X runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Android Operating system on it. The Samsung Galaxy Note comes with its own User Interface, TouchWiz 4, while HTC has its own Sense UI, which is quite famous for its excellent gesture support and user friendly UI throughout the OS, built by the HTC engineers over the Android layout.
The HTC Sense is definitely fun to use and has lots of small add-ons everywhere while Samsung’s new TouchWiz 4 UI has refreshed iconography, user changes here and there and some slight improvements to the User Experience.
While Samsung had announced that the Galaxy Note would be receiving the Android Ice Cream sandwich update very soon, it has already been many months since the users have been waiting and there has been no update in many regions yet.

Battery and Processor
The HTC One X has a 1800mAh battery while the Samsung Galaxy Note has a 2500mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note has a talktime of upto 27 hours on 2G and 960 hours of standby time and upto 13 hours of talktime and 820 hours of standby time on 3G while HTC has not released any specifications for battery standby time officially. However, from our HTC One X S720e Mobile Phone Hands-on Review, we can conclude that we got upto 10 hours of talktime on 2G and around 8.5-9 hours on 3G.
The HTC One X and Galaxy Note come with powerful processors. On the HTC One X, there is a 1.5 GHz Quad Core processor powered by ULP GeForce GPU backed by the Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset while the Galaxy Note has a Dual-core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Processor powered by a Mali-400MP GPU and an Exynos Chipset.
Beats by Dr. Dre
The HTC One X comes with audio from Beats by Dr. Dre, one of the most premium companies specializing in Audio technology in the world. Their software is also specially tuned software and the user interface is tweaked to deliver the best mobile audio experience.
The HTC One X is the most powerful Android smartphone available in the market as of date. With a quad core processor and really good Nvidia graphics, the One X has excellent multimedia features on it as well. Packed with Beats Audio driver and a pair of headphones, it provides the best experience to enjoy your movies or music on the go.
While the One X has all the features one would desire of in a high-end Android smartphone, the Galaxy Note from Samsung is a powerful device with a Dual Core processor and decent specifications as well. It is known for its S-Pen input and large screen size, as promoted by Samsung themselves.
It is very sure that the One X beats the Galaxy Note in all features and comparisons very easily but the Galaxy Note is a good pick if you are looking for a large screen to enjoy movies on the go or process large amounts of documents. Also, the S-Pen touch stylus input might come in handy while in use. Other than this, there is absolutely no reason why one should go for the Samsung Galaxy Note.
