Earlier, many smartphone manufacturers including Motorola, Lenovo, and Huawei Honor among others announced plans for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for their smartphones. Now, OnePlus is the latest company that has announced the schedule for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 smartphones. OnePlus did not reveal any specific dates, but we are here with the details about the updates for both the devices.
The OnePlus One based on Cyanogen OS will receive the Marshmallow update in the Q1 of 2016. The company also offers OnePlus One based on Oxygen OS, but OnePlus did not reveal any plans of Android Marshmallow update for the Oxygen OS powered OnePlus One.
OnePlus 2 powered by Oxygen OS will also receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the first quarter 2016. The new update will include the new standard Marshmallow API for the fingerprint scanner. The currrent API for the fingerprint sensor in Oxygen OS is not proper, this is the reason why the company has no plans to create an API for the current fingerprint implementation.
OnePlus did not reveal any particular time frame for Android Marshmallow update in the recently launched OnePlus X smartphone. As the Marshmallow update for OnePlus One and OnePlus Two is scheduled for Q1 of 2016, we can expect the OnePlus X to get the update in Q2 of 2016.
