Update: The Pebble Steel Smartwatch is just launched, with the new stainless steel body and two types of straps – stainless steel and leather. Check out the details to see how better this one is, when compared to the first gen Pebble, which was decent and priced better, as the Pebble Steel comes with a price tag of $249.
The Pebble Smartwatch was one of the best wearable gadgets for the year 2013 after the announcement at the CES 2013, and this had all started off through a KickStarter campaign which got a great response from people who wanted to get a touch of the new technology. Though now, a year after we won’t be able to say that Pebble is the best from the lot that was launched during the entire year (includes Sony SmartWatch 2, Samsung Galaxy Gear, Qualcomm Toq, I’m Watch, Kreyos Meteor and a few more) but the Pebble Team doesn’t want to settle with this one as they are holding an event at this year’s CES event, and it would be held on 6th January 2014.
Through a blog post “Monday, 6 January: Something Special This Way Comes to CES…”, the Pebble team is going to make some special announcements, and there shouldn’t be a better time than the CES for the company to announce something new, even if they don’t have the lot ready for shipping.
Join us Monday, 6 January at 11 AM Pacific (2 PM Eastern) for an announcement by CEO Eric Migicovsky, streaming on getpebble.com. Pebblers who were part of our CES announcement last year can tell you: you won’t want to miss the news (Eric will be color-correct this year, promise)!
Right, so the official website of Pebble would be live streaming the event, for those who are not attending the event. What we are expecting to see at the event is a better Pebble 2 smartwatch with the higher resolution e-ink display, and something with the bands, colors and stuff. The colors and bands of the watch was where many people complained, with very limited options.
It was also revealed by the Pebble company that there would be a special app store made for the developers to release their own apps for the smartwatch, and that should be an attractive point for the buyers too, as they might be getting to do more from the same smartwatch, with the help of apps.
Do check out on 6th Jan when the company makes some official announcements.
