Root Google Logitech Revue TV with Hardware and Software Tweaks

Changes to be made on Software of the Logitech Revue Google TV:

  • Now, you will have to proceed to place the files manually in your USB Stick which should be preferably on the format of Ext 3 so that then the files are placed in the folder which is named as “updatec99” for easy installation process.
  • Now, insert the USB in the USB Slot and enter to run the following command for the ext3 device which is “mount -rw -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 /sdcard” which is the substitute of the ext3 for the FAT for the FAT32 device. Please note that if you select to use the FAT32 Drive then you probably have issues with the Netflix application. For this you will have to format the drive to the EXT3 for the best results.
  • Now, in the Minicom or in the Putty you will need to browse to the /sdcard directory with the “cd /SDCARD/UPDATEC99”
  • After this you will have to proceed to to finalize and execute the update using the command “sh manual-update.sh”. Please note that just in case if you choose to fat32 formatted usb drive you will receive “Permission denied” errors during the chmod process of the manual-update script, this is normal.
  • Now, if the process gets done prompting with the message as “Complete” then you will now have toreboot the device as it will mean that the process has been finished and at this time you will have to ignore if any sort of permissions or the denial errors are found on the FAT32. Please note that you will have to then get into the adb running on your Logitech Revue and then you can connect using the command “/adb connect LogitechRevue” and if this time if the process doesn’t prompt you with the “Complete” command then you will see some error after which you need to ensure that you don’t reboot he Revue at this time as this may brick the device. So, that’s it there you go you are now free to install the applications on your Logitech Revue Box remotely using the ADB Option.

Note: Please note that now next when you boot the Revue in the normal mode you will not be seeing the console output and just in case if you wish to get into the console again, you will have to get into the recovery mode.

So, there you go you have now successfully rooted your Logitech Revue Box and just in case you want to install the applications then you can now easily do so, all you need to do is to just follow the instructions which are mentioned in the link below.
