Procedure to apply Gingerbread 2.3.5 on Galaxy S GT I9000:
- Download the complete Gingerbread XXJVS 2.3.5 Firmware Package in your computer, preferably to your desktop so that you can easily locate the same. Once you place the same on desktop, you will now have to unzip the same. In the process of unzipping, you will be prompted to enter the password, the password is “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once the zip file is extracted, you will see that a total of 5 files in all. The files which are there in the zip file are,
CODE_I9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_user_low_ship.tar,
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVS.tar,
MODEM_I9000XXJVS_REV_00_CL1059471.tar,
Odin3_v1.0.exe &
s1_odin_20100512.pit
- Please note that just in case if you wish miss any of the files out of the above list which is mentioned, then you will have to again download the zip file. Once the unzipping of the zip file is done, you will now have to open the file name “Odin3_v1.0.exe” after which you will have to turn Off your phone.
- Once the phone is turned Off, you will have to enter the phone in the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video below to know more on how you can enter into the download mode.
- Once, you are into the download mode you will now have to connect the phone with the help of the USB cable to the computer while keeping the Odin opened in your computer.
- As soon as you connect the phone, you will now see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow as shown in the below screenshot. The significance of turning the ID : COM section yellow is that it means that all the drivers required for the installation are now done and you are now ready to update the phone.
- Now, you will have to select the firmware files as per the below mentioned list by clicking on the respective tabs,
PIT – s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA – CODE_I9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_user_low_ship.tar
Phone – MODEM_I9000XXJVS_REV_00_CL1059471.tar
CSC – GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVS.tar
- Now, once you have selected the files, you will now have to double check the same after which click on the “Start” button to initiate the firmware updation process.
- You will see that after 5 – 10 minutes the device will be updated and the same will be rebooting. Please note that at this point of time its highly recommended to not to interrupt the process of firmware update, if you do so then there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone.
- Just in case if this process is interrupted abruptly on its own then you will have to again follow the instructions from the start so as to update the device.
- Now, once the phone gets rebooted, you will have to select the Region and the Language Preference if prompted followed by the Google Account credentials to access the Gmail as well as the Android Market Place applications.
- So now after successful firmware updation, you will now have to turn Off the phone so that you can enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- After entering the recovery mode, you will have to choose the options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Please note that you will have to ensure that you don’t select any other options or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone. Please note that its utmost important to follow this step or else you will have to face force close errors.
That’s it you will now see that the device will be rebooting and then you will see that the firmware will be updated successfully. So, you are now all set to enjoy this all new firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.
