Pre Upgrade Instructions:
- It has been found that over a period of time users are not reading the instructions carefully. It’s our humble request that you kindly go through the instructions before proceeding as it will only avoid the inconvenience.
- While you apply this update, you may lose all the data which is there in the phone, so it’s highly recommended to back up the data like text messages, Contacts, Songs, Videos, Files and also not to forget the APN Settings as well as the MMS Settings. The best and the simple way with which you can back up all this is that you can follow the below mentioned tips which are mentioned below.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- So as to get the best of the battery life ensure that the battery life is more than 90%. Higher the battery life, the better will be the overall battery performance after the update.
- The PC which you will be using for the update should be minimum having the Windows XP / Vista / 7 Operating system and as of now due to technical limitations the Odin flash tool doesn’t support the Mac / Apple systems. Additionally, ensure that the USB ports are a minimum of USB 2.0 capable or else you will get the USB Port error which can only by overcomed either by using different PC with the above capabilities or by upgrading the PC with the minimum of USB 2.0.
- Don’t proceed to updating the phone before entering into the download mode. If you proceed without entering into the download mode then there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone for which we should not be held responsible for.
- You should have the ADMIN privileges along with the full access of the USB Read / Write access so that all the data can be read / written from / to the phone. Before proceeding close the softwares like KIES / Antivirus Suites / Firewall tools completely so as to avoid from firmware update failure message.
- Once you are done with the firmware updater successfully, you need to get into the recovery mode which is mentioned at the end of this article and then follow the instructions. Just in case if any interruption occurs while the updation process is going on then you need to repeat the whole procedure again from the start to successfully update the phone.
- Last but not the least, this update is only applicable for all the users of Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 only, this update should not be applied to any other phones apart from this even if they have similar phone model numbers like I9000B or I9000T etc.
