Android Advices – CES 2014 – News & Updates – Products Launch Report

Did you realize it’s 2014 already? Happy New Year, BTW! The Android Advices team is going to bring to you, all the latest news about Android devices, as and when any developments happen at the CES 2014 event in Las Vegas. The event is going to be held from 7th January to 10th January 2014, and AndroidAdvices would be sharing all the details about the pre-show events where most of the companies hold their press conferences to announce the best devices which are to come in the next few months.

What has happened till now?

Micromax Laptab

This is a 10-inch tablet device from Micromax, which comes with the Dual boot between Android and Windows, and there are some heavy specifications included in this, especially to run two OS with the dual-boot.

Alcatel One Touch Pop C9

The One Touch Pop C9 is a 5.5-inch Android smartphone announced by Alcatel, and it has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, and it runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. There’s a 8-megapixel Autofocus camera with 2MP front shooter, and the battery included has a capacity of 2500 mAh.

Alcatel One Touch Pop 7

This one is a 7-inch Android tablet having a Dual-core Mediatek chipset, running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and priced at 149 euros.

Alcatel One Touch Pop 8

The One Touch Pop 8 is one of the Android tablets showcased by Alcatel at the CES, and it comes with the 8-inch display, a Quad-core Mediatek processor and a 4100 mAh battery, and would be priced at 199 euros.

Blu Life One X and Blu Life One M

The Blu Life One, which was launched last year, now has got two successors – one with the better specs, and one with a lower pricing. The Life One X comes with a 5-inch Full HD display, a quad-core display and 13MP camera on the rear side, with two storage options – 16GB, 32GB. The Life One M has a 5-inch HD display, a rear 12-megapixel camera and 4GB internal storage with MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.

ZTE Sonata 4G

The Sonata 4G from ZTE comes with a 4-inch display, a dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocking at 1.4 GHz and this joins the Projector Display at the ZTE booth in the CES event.

ASUS ZenFone Series

The ZenFone series comes with 4-inch, 5-inch and 6-inch displays and some moderate specs, and these are among the list of products announced at the CES.

ZTE Projector Hotspot

A special pack this one, having a projector, hotspot to connect up to 8 devices and this runs the Android OS. And there’s a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2

The 6.1-inch Android phablet from Huawei has made an official entry for this year via CES 2014, just like its predecessor did in the last year’s event. There’s an HD IPS display, and a quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor internally.

Polaroid Socialmatic Android Camera

The Socialmatic camera from Polaroid is something special, with the Android OS and with the option of printing any click instantly directly from the inbuilt printer in the camera.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4

The TabPro 8.4 from Samsung comes with the retina display with the 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution just like the 10.1 inch version, and is a part of the series of tablet devices announced by the company at the event.

Sony Xperia Z1S

Sony has officially announced the Xperia Z1 for T-Mobile with the 4G LTE band, and it’s called the Xperia Z1s, with the Full HD display, Snapdragon 800 and everything similar the international flagship model, except for the LTE bands for T-mobile that are included.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro 10.1

There is an excellent range of tablet devices announced by Samsung, and one of them is having a 10.1-inch display with the 2560 x 1600 pixels resolution and high-end specs. Samsung does have plans for the flagship smartphones dated for MWC, thus you see a tablet range at CES 2014.

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

The compact version of the Xperia Z1, this one comes with a 4.3 inch HD display, the Snapdragon 800 processor and a 20.7 megapixel camera which the Xperia Z1 had. It too is a waterproof device from Sony. Quite compact, yet powerful from Sony.

LG Lifeband Touch

LG has again put their hand on the wearable tech, and this time it is the LG Lifeband Touch, a fitness activity tracker band that comes with some features like watch, music controller, notification reader and more on the OLED touchscreen display, and even the calorie consumption counter.

HP Slate21 Pro AIO

The HP Slate21 Pro All-in-one computer comes with the 1080p 21.5 inch display and runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. There’s the NVIDIA Tegra 4 quad-core chipset that would be running this, and 2GB of RAM would be supporting this.

Lenovo N308 Android Computer

The Lenovo N308 Android computer is another addition to the line of devices unveiled at the CES, and this one comes with 19.5-inch display and the NVIDIA Tegra chipset, a quad-core one would provide the internal powering. The good part, is the pricing starting at $450, good for the budget minded group of buyers.

Lenovo Thinkvision 28

The Thinkvision 28 is a 4K Android display with the 28-inch touchscreen display having the screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It would be running the Android OS, and there is quite a lot in the internal system of the Thinkvision 28.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2

The successor to the Android camera from Samsung is announced, with the 16MP CMOS sensor with 21x optical zoom and running the Android 4.3, this one is quite an upgrade from the first gen. Galaxy Camera.

ZTE

ZTE has announced a list of devices including smartphones and a smartwatch. It’s the ZTE Grand S II which is going to be showcased at the CES 2014 event, and along with that, you would be seeing the Nubia Z5S and the mini version of it, an Iconic tablet and a couple more devices including the first smartwatch from them.

Archos 45 Helium 4G

A $199 Android smartphone with the 4.5-inch display and a Quad-core Qualcomm chipset along with 1GB RAM, and running the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, the Archos 45 Helium is a 4G LTE smartphone with the 1700 mAh battery.

Archose 50 Helium 4G

This is a 5-inch Android smartphone from Archos, coming with the similar internal powering as that of the 45 Helium, and it too has the 4G LTE connectivity along with 2000 mAh battery.

Lenovo Vibe Z

This is the flagship Vibe series device from Lenovo, having the 5-inch 1080p display with the Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB RAM. It comes with the LTE connectivity for the Chinese networks, and it is going to be available soon in the other markets where Lenovo is already selling its devices.

Lenovo S930, Lenovo S650 and Lenovo A859

These three mid-range Android smartphones were announced by Lenovo along with the Vibe Z, and they are going to be available immediately, and each of these would be showcased at the CES 2014.

Acer Iconia A1-830

The A1-830 is the latest budget Android tablet from Acer, coming with the 7.9-inch HD display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and the 1080p video recording with the rear camera. It is priced at 169 euros.

Acer Liquid Z5

The Liquid Z5 from Acer is the 5-inch Android phone with a Dual-core mediatek processor, FWVGA display and other mid-range specs including the 2000 mAh battery. Acer has set a pricing of 169 Euros for this, and it would be available from mid-January, while you would be able to check it out at the Acer booth in CES.

What’s coming?

Archos SmartWatch – Archos isn’t going to wait a lot in the wearable tech, as the company is going to launch its smart watch with the Android and iOS support.

Pebble SmartWatch 2 – Pebble is going to announce the next smartwatch on 6th Jan, with the live streaming for those who are going to miss the event.

Samsung

Reports have shown that because of the slowing sales of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the company is considering to go for an early announcement of the next flagship, i.e. the Samsung Galaxy S5 during the time of CES 2014, and that should surprise a lot because Samsung usually does the flagship announcements during the MWC event. Now, what could be packed in, includes – a 64-bit chip, a 16-megapixel camera and an all-metal body, under a 5.2 to 5.5-inch display which could have a 2K display. (Update: Samsung is announcing the S5 during MWC, confirmed the VP)

Other gadgets which we expect to see from Samsung include the Galaxy Round showcased for people from around the world to check out, and as the information about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 have been leaked, we could be expecting to see these devices at the CES 2014.

LG

LG might not want to go quick with this as the LG G3 rumors did indicate that the device might be coming around the MWC time and not during the CES, so no much developments from them except for the LG G Flex which might be showcased during the CES event.

From the other brands, we don’t have much information already, but as it’s just a few days for the CES 2014 event, we might get the official details soon. ZTE is one of those with high ambitions, and might be coming up with the ZTE Grand S II and there could be announcements from the different companies about the 64-bit chipset, the advancements in camera, processor and the other specs that should be coming in the 2014 year timeline.
